On Evgrafov-fedoyuk’s Theory and Quadratic Differentials
نویسنده
چکیده
The purpose of this note is to recall the theory of the (homogenized) spectral problem for a Schrödinger equation with a polynomial potential developed in the 60’s by M. Evgrafov with M. Fedoryuk, and, by Y. Sibuya and its relation with quadratic differentials. We derive from these results that the accumulation rays of the eigenvalues of this problem are in 1−1-correspondence with the short geodesics of the singular planar metrics on CP 1 induced by the corresponding quadratic differential. Using this interpretation we show that for a polynomial potential of degree d the number of such accumulation rays can be any positive integer between (d− 1) and (d 2 ) .

متن کاملConnected Components of Strata of Quadratic Differentials over Teichmuller Space
In this paper, we study connected components of strata of the space of quadratic differentials lying over Tg. We use certain general properties of sections of line bundles to put a upper bound on the number of connected components, and a generalized version of the Gauss map as an invariant to put a lower bound on the number of such components. For strata with sufficiently many zeroes of the sam...

متن کاملQuadratic Differentials and Foliations
This paper concerns the interplay between the complex structure of a Riemann surface and the essentially Euclidean geometry induced by a quadratic differential. One aspect of this geometry is the " trajectory structure" of a quadratic differential which has long played a central role in Teichmfiller theory starting with Teichmiiller's proof of the existence and uniqueness of extremal maps. Ahlf...
